INTRODUCING DAISY DIVA!
There is nothing better than finding clients that challenge you with projects that are so enjoyable and fun it doesn't even feel like work. Launch Your Kid! for me is one of those clients. They are based out of Charlotte, NC and have a series of programs geared at teaching children at very young ages the importance of a healthy lifestyle through dance, yoga, and other activities. The first project I am working on with them is a book of activities and coloring sheets for their dance program "Little Diva Dance". This is the cover of the book featuring Daisy Diva. Stay tuned as over the next few months I will keep you updated on the other cool projects they have coming my way.

HELPING PEOPLE WITH ALZHEIMER'S

I have been working with a new company called Hippo Campus Headquarters with my old boss and long time friend Ginny Rosen back in Cleveland. Above is the logo I developed for them, and launching this month is the website which I also designed (see below). This is such a wonderful concept. They have a program full of activities geared towards helping people suffering with Alzheimer's and dementia while respecting the individual and helping to preserve their dignity. On a whim I submitted images from my recent book "My Mother Is My Friend" to Layers Magazine for their Digital Canvas section featuring reader's artwork. And I was included in the May/June issue! How cool is that?!

My Newest Cake Creation
For a recent BBQ Catering that we did, I created a 3d pig cake and placed it on a tier with 50 individual piggy cupcakes - with marshmallow noses, rolled out Starburst ears, and chocolate chip eyes. YUM!

The Humane Society of Silicon Valley
Goes Green

I have been lucky enough to do some design work for the Humane Society of Silicon Valley, CA. Aside from designing their calendar for the past two years they recently called upon me to put a nice brochure together introducing their new 'Green' Animal Community Center. www.hssv.org

HOW SWEET IT IS..

My baby girl, Mila, turns 3 on April 7th and she is obsessed with dinosaurs and the Land Before Time movies. So when she requested a T-Rex cake I decided to take the cute route and do Chomper rather than a toothy scary one. Yes, I also decorate cakes! It is a good stress release... and a tasty one too!

Well, spent the weekend typing up cover letters to about 40 children's book publishers and dropped them all in the mail today. Hoping it being St. Patrick's day and all it will bless them with some good luck and get them into the right peoples hands. Fingers crossed!!!

I hope this finds you all well! Although things have been a bit slow around here I have had the good fortune of a few fun and creative projects thrown my way. So I thought it was a good time to share! Above is a Valentine's Day card I created based on a few photos of my daughter Mila. She came home from pre-school with the class list for cards and I thought it would be fun to create one rather than purchase a box from the store. Happy Valentine's Day to you all!

It is so hard to stay on top of updating my web portfolio. I thought a blog might be a good way to log new projects. My current project I am most excited about is a new book I am illustrating for Kimberly Johnson called "My Mother is my Friend" - attached is an image of one of the pages. I have found that illustrating with Adobe Illustrator is my favorite medium, always starting with freehand pencil sketches, but finishing them off on the computer. More to come soon.
